Did you know?
The wreck of the Titanic was found by Dr. Robert Ballard and his team aboard Knorr early on the morning of this day, September 1st, in 1985.
PBS NewsHour reminded us of the anniversary and we checked our stacks to find this interesting story and graphic on the technology that made finding the historic ship possible. While the methods may seem commonplace now, they were groundbreaking 26 years ago.
From NewsHour:

73 years after it sunk to the North Atlantic ocean floor, a joint U.S.-French expedition locates the wreck of the Titanic. The sunken liner was about 400 miles east of Newfoundland in the North Atlantic.
