SAT reading scores for the high school class of 2011 were the lowest on record, and combined reading and math scores fell to their lowest point since 1995.
The College Board, which released the scores Wednesday, said the results reflect the record size and diversity of the pool of test-takers. As more students aim for college and take the exam, it tends to drag down average scores.
The wreck of the Titanic was found by Dr. Robert Ballard and his team aboard Knorr early on the morning of this day, September 1st, in 1985.
PBS NewsHour reminded us of the anniversary and we checked our stacks to find this interesting story and graphic on the technology that made finding the historic ship possible. While the methods may seem commonplace now, they were groundbreaking 26 years ago.

73 years after it sunk to the North Atlantic ocean floor, a joint U.S.-French expedition locates the wreck of the Titanic. The sunken liner was about 400 miles east of Newfoundland in the North Atlantic.
