What makes bands like Phish the targets of super fandom?
With those Phish fellas starting a three day run at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in  Commerce City tomorrow — their legion of “phans” in tow — we wanted to  give you a list of 11 other artists that have their own super fans.  These are not only strong fan bases, but obsessive, crazed and loyal  (often to a fault) followers — many as famous or infamous, as the bands  they worship.
What drives this kind of devotion? Is it the music? The herd  instinct? The drugs? A life-long dream of finally hooking up with that  scruffy looking bass player who probably smells like five-day-old  seafood floating in a open grave?

Michele Bachmann wishes Elvis happy birthday on death date
AP— Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann got her Elvis Presley​ dates all shook up during a campaign stop Tuesday in South Carolina. The congresswoman from Minnesota played the Elvis tune “Promised Land” at a local restaurant and told the crowd of 300 that she wanted to say happy birthday to the king of rock ‘n’ roll.“Before we get started, let’s all say happy birthday to Elvis Presley today!” Bachmann said.But Aug. 16 is the anniversary of Elvis’ death, in 1977, and someone in the crowd shouted back, “He died today!”Bachmann didn’t respond and launched into her speech.
