Burning man preview: Wine fan will uncork costumed persona Corky Buchon
Claire Martin reports:

For years, Al Fink saved corks from the wine he drank with his wife and friends, tossing the corks in a big jar, transferring the contents to a plastic bag when the jar filled and saving the bag in his garage.
No reason to keep them, really, just a feeling that all those corks would come in handy some day.
That day has arrived, along with Fink’s temporary persona as the nominally redundant Corky Buchon, whose surname is French for “cork.”

More than 200 artists will spend hours turning the streets of Larimer Square into a museum of chalk art at the Denver Chalk Art Festival June 4 & 5, 2011. Denver Chalk Art Festival is produced by the Larimer Arts Association, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting arts awareness and education in Denver.

I love this video because it’s not just some factual video.  It captures why the people here are doing what they do.  And because the reporter captured the start of the art to the finishing displays, you can tell he’s put in several hours.

Thanks for posting our video, Amy!

Reasons my state is better than yours: Illegal Pete’s. I love this place more than should be allowed.

We’ve mentioned Illegal Pete’s as a great place to eat in Denver on more than one occasion - even as a romantic dinner spot, once. Recently, I ran into our Ricardo Baca checking out The Hollyfelds at the LoDo Illegal Pete’s. Don’t worry, you can catch them and over 300 other bands all over Denver this July at the Underground Music Showcase.
