One of the most potent weapons in Memorial Health System in Colorado Springs’ health-care arsenal is a decidedly low-tech healer who’s outfitted with nothing more than sneakers, a sunny disposition and the royal blue volunteer vest that bears his name: Sprout.
During a conference at Craig Hospital in Denver on July 25, Amanda Boxtel demonstrated a new experimental, wearable robot, or “exoskeleton,” designed as an alternative to a wheelchair.
The device is for patients with lower extremity paralysis and is being developed by Berkeley Bionics.
