Feds indict 14 ‘Anonymous’ members in hacking probe; one suspect arrested in Colorado
A Fort Collins man has been arrested in a sweep of suspects involved with the “Anonymous” hacking group.
Vincent Charles Kershaw, 27, is one of 14 people named in an indictment filed in federal court for the Northern District of California.
According to the indictment, which was attached to Kershaw’s arrest documents filed in federal court in Denver, the suspects are accused of organizing a “distributed denial of service” attack on the e-commerce site PayPal. The attack, according to the indictment, was in retaliation for PayPal’s refusal to accept donations for WikiLeaks, after the anti-secrecy website posted tens of thousands of sensitive diplomatic cables and other U.S. government documents.
