President Obama speaks to college students in Denver, urges action, promises reduced student loan payments

Speaking to thousands of students today on the Auraria Campus, President Barack Obama appealed to Americans — especially the young — to prod Congress to act on his American Jobs Bill.

In an event touted as an announcement of his plan to further relieve student loan debt, Obama faulted Congressional Republicans for failing to act on his bill and said ordinary folks need to send them a message.

Former active duty Marine Corps Corporal Dakota Meyer is presented with the Medal of Honor by U.S. President Barack Obama during an East Room ceremony, Sept. 15, 2011, at the White House in Washington, DC.

Corporal Meyer received the Medal of Honor for his courageous actions while serving as a member of Marine Embedded Training Team 2-8, Regional Corps Advisory Command 3-7, in Kunar Province, Afghanistan, on Sept. 8, 2009, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
